Arfstoll Thjod is dedicated to reviving the folkways of the northern European people. It is our hope to reconstruct those folkways in order to strengthen our bonds of community, friendship, and family. In that sense, we are creating a new tribal identity born of many different Germanic cultures; from the ancient Germans, the Anglo-Saxons, and Norse, among others. Our name, which means "ancestral throne", is an indicator of this pan-Germanic approach. We are doing nothing less than re-forging the ancient ties of belonging to a tribe, and there is no greater gratification than belonging to something meaningful, and larger than yourself.
We practice this folkway, known as Théodish Belief, which emphasizes the bonds of the community and the development of a worldview and cultural ethos that our ancient forebears would have honored, and uses these tools to to forge a connection between the individual and the divine. We believe in and honor the Gods and Goddesses of the North, spirits of the land, and the memories of our ancestors. Ours is not an easy path to follow, but our halls are open to all who believe they have what it takes to face the fires of ordeal that the modern world throws at them. Most of the knowledge of the beliefs and practices of Théodish Belief are not really able to be transmitted by text; they require face-to-face contact to learn and become internalized. For that reason, we encourage those who find the material herein interesting to look to our upcoming event listings to learn more. There's so much that cannot be learned by reading, so much that must be experienced. If you're willing to learn, we're happy to teach. If you are interested in joining Arfstoll Thjod, you must do so at one of our face-to-face events; we don't accept members solely over the Internet. Newcomers are especially welcome! |

Wassail All! Be it known that the worthless Thrall TJ Walker was purchased by Adam Bondi from his previous Owner Catie Kottaren on Saturday July 11, 2009. The sum paid for this chattel was the original winning bid of 15 Lucky Pennies. The reason for this sale was that TJ Thrall aspires to someday be in Arfstoll and as Arfstoll Thew is shaping to be considerably different that Normannii Thew so all potential Arfstoll Folk must be in Thrall to an Arfstoll member. I would like to thank Catie Kottaren for her excellent work instructing TJ Thrall to this point and for her understanding of Thew that lead her to agree to and facilitate this transaction. She is a credit to her Lord William Thain. Godspeed, Lou Hersir |
